I can tell you already that it doesn't run in X; that's why it's free.
It's basically advertising for the OS X version. You can't run it in
classic mode either; you would have to actually boot into OS 9 if you
have a dual-boot. even then, I can't confirm whether or not it can read
the OS X filesystem (HFS+, as opposed to the HFS of non-X OS's).

Digidesign offers ProTools free which definitely runs under OS 9. Check
www.digidesign.com to see if they have released a version that runs
under X.
