as much as i too don't believe in any such stuff as life after death etc,
you will have to admit that music can have many purposes, some of which
include making people dance, sing along, jump around, be touched to tears,
etc. not just carrying pieces of intelligence for ra's sake. i mean listen
to the "last recorded performance in front of an audience" coltrane played
(olatunji concert, impulse) - i'd say the sheer manic intensity and
physicality overrides the no doubt very high level of musical intelligence.
okay maybe this kind of intelligence acknoledges the need for and the value
of displayed emotion.
