CURRENT/UPCOMING PROJECTS + EVENTS

EXHIBIT / BOOK / CD / LIVE .  Sounding Spaces - 9 sound installations 
@ NTT InterCommunication Center [ICC] [ Tokyo, Japan ] July 10-Sept

the show contains the new sound piece "Specification.Twelve" which is 
a collaborative work with Taylor Deupree.  We performed a live 
collaborative set as well for the opening day. this performance was 
recorded and we hope to release this and possibly a surround sound 
audio dvd of the sound piece at some point in the future. A full 
catalogue is available for the show along with a CD with the 
exclusive track "Specification.Eleven". Other artists also included 
in the exhibit Alvin Lucier, Christina Kubisch, David Cunningham, 
Kubota Akhiro, Rafael Toral, Edwin Van Der Heide, Alejandro & Aeron, 
Superseat.

Taylor  and I have assembled the double CD compilation showcasing new 
exclusive works by various artists as a follow-up to 2001's "Between 
Two Points" (12k1012/LINE_004). The LINE cd is now completed and 
features works by ae lab, steve roden, asmus tietchens/david lee 
myers,  steinbruchel,  vend, richard chartier, thom kubli, 
skoltz_kolgen, william basinski, coh. it is a very interesting array 
of works and presents new directions for LINE as we proceed into our 
4th year. Includes the new works "Archival 1992" and 
"Specification.fourteen" (with Taylor Deupree)

CD . Overview [ 3particles, US ] October 2003. This cd will feature 
some of what i consider my best solo works. some will appear as 
excerpts. it will include 3 works previously unreleased works. 
"composition_location" (which was created for exhibit in the show The 
Moderns at Castello Di Rivoli in Turin, Italy), "felt" (which was 
originally available as an MP3.. now hear it in glorious 44.1hz), 
"sketch for winter (version2)" (a new version of the work created as 
a private limited edition) and also "series (exhibit)" (which is the 
12 minute arrangement of Series that was exhibited at the 2002 
Biennial Exhibit at the Whitney Museum of American Art in NY). This 
cd will initially be available only through the website and at live 
performances. The reason for the cd compilation is that often times i 
am asked at live shows especially ,,, "which cd should i buy that has 
the best stuff" etc and this will give and overview of my work.. a 
starting point for new listeners. and some new things for current 
listeners.  packaged in a 3 color fold out 5" x7" package. limited 
hand-numbered edition of 500.

CD . William Basinski + Richard Chartier [ Spekk, Japan ] December 
2003. This cd will feature 2 long collaborative pieces. the master is 
on its way to the label as i write this.
we are very excited about this release! the cover will feature a 
small painting of mine from 2000.

CD . Archival 1991  [ Crouton Music ] December 2003. This new 45 
minute work was created utilizing two reprocessed analog recordings 
of mine from 1991 and stays true to the aesthetic of my work during 
that period. dark waves, drones and reverberations.

CD . Kim Cascone has curated a compilation cd that will accompany 
Contemporary Music Journal for later this year. The cd will feature 
an unreleased 0/r ( Nosei Sakata/*0 + Richard Chartier) track "trackb"

miniCDROM . 00:dedaih  [ Synchron, Switzerland ] features my remix 
"dedaih_postfabricatedmonomix" (other remixers: steinbr=FCchel, stephan 
mathieu, frank bretschneider) for release on Synchron, Switzerland.

CD . Chessmachine [ TBA ] 2004. Ivan Pavlov + Richard Chartier. This 
cd has been completed and mastered. This project will include highly 
stylized, rather conceptual live performances in keeping with the 
theme and we are discussing with tina frank (mego) collaboration on 
visual elements. Definitely a departure from our solo works. an odd 
recording.

2x12" . 1.8  compilation _ early 2004. The compilation will be 2x12" 
records with 4 tracks, 8 artists on each. Each artist has contributed 
a 1.8 second sound file to be a lock groove. Each work ends with 
another artists' lockgroove. Includes tracks by Tim Hecker,*0, 
Duul_Drv, Taylor Deupree, Kim Cascone, 3x3is9, Roel Meelkop. My piece 
is rather rhythmic.... it is a 12" right?! : )

CD .  in May 2004 a solo cd will be released on Bernhard G=FCnter's 
label Trente Oiseaux (Germany). This will most likely be a recording 
of one of my live performances in 2003, which will be nice since i do 
not perform very often.... this would give many people the 
opportunity to hear what i do live.. and how it differs in ways with 
my studio work.

OTHER PROJECTS IN THE WORKS . mystery techno project with another 
mystery artist.
working with taylor deupree this fall/winter to expand on the 8 
channel piece "specification.twelve" exhibited at ICC into a stereo 
composition for release on LINE in 2004. this will be our first full 
length collaboration since 1999's "SPEC." cd. possible live shows in 
montreal, canada and geneva, switzerland later in 2003 and early 
2004. also poised to begin odd collaboration with montreal's DEADBEAT 
on a project tentatively called "looky-likey" because people think we 
are brothers or confuse us....
