During the last years Thomas K=F6ner has been a key character in  the  field
of electronic music and other related artistic fields. He  has  widened his
sphere of action to other fields by intensely investigating on simultaneous
visual and aural experiences, and thus he has colaborated with film directo=
r
J=FCrgen Reble, and done solo audio installations, some of them in
collaboration   with Max Eastley or Yann Beauvais, always being sponsored b=
y
European museums   and institutions. Nevertheless, he might be more well
known in the field  of popular electronic music, for   his work as a
producer of bands like Nine  Inch Nails or his project   Porter Ricks, with
Andy Mellwig. He has also collaborated with Asmus Tietchens and he is now
preparing a new production: a remix of   Claude Debussy for Universal Music=
,
which clearly shows his multifaceted  personality.

It is difficult to sum up the eminent musical career of this artist in  suc=
h
a limited space. Cascone is currently focused on building up a  connexion
between the performing of historical electronic music, the legacy of Xenaki=
s
or Oliveros and the new means to use new tools and new ideas. This compound
is featured in Tropes and Sequences, his new release, which appeared last
autumn at Subrosa label. Cascone has   an outstanding background: he worked
with David Lynch in Twin Peaks    and Wild at Heart, he created the first
electronic  label in USA, named  Silent  Records, and he has been the sound
designer for  Headspace, Thomas  Dolby=B9s company. He has issued more than 2=
0
records and  has collaborated with Merzbow, Keith Rowe, Tony Conrad,
Scanner, Ikue Mori  and Pauline Oliveros among other important musicians.
Kim Cascone represents as   no one else does the unsteadiness of the
dividing line between refined and  popular art, which long ago used to be
totally separated. And therefore he greatly enriches History as well as our
own pleasure.=20
