Re: [microsound] home made plate reverb

I have...also I've got a few spring type..and have tried mics and ducts.
Radiators ! they are instruments unto themselves.

I need to explore the piezo mic thing. after al htere is a radio shack 3
min. away.
so the piezo could transmit the signal AND a different one pick it up??
Does that involve the same piezo?

I saw a thread on this 2+ years ago...with mic recommendations...piezo
shaving...but I don't remember seeing anything about using them this
way...and I want to figure out the transmit -> process -> record - so
that it can be well recorded.

I was wondering about how the mics worked with different plates...I knew
they had a speaker and mic and dead acoustics...but wasn't the glass
quite thck? Will smaller inprovised plates [metal wood fiberglsss], even
built into a box, work in any reasonablely reproducable way?

I would imagine the plates would have to be large + thick to produce
quality plate sounds (issue being length of delay = big plate +
thickness = sound repro)?

If smaller units are possible, I might be able.

With springs, the piezo thing sounds iike it would be great, I could
find a very long fine spring even. And again, the duct work here.

thanks
