When my studio computer went down my friend rebuilt for me by looking at 
specs for purpose built music computers in various ads. Then bought comparable 
bits from Novatech and did the job for about half price. Soundcard wise if it 
helps I'm using a midiman delta 4/10. Gives you 8 stereo outputs if you want to 
do any hardware mixing or is quite useful for monitoring tracks separately even 
if you eventually mixdown and master on the pc. (I expect you're already
