[microsound] pressreleases....
Promoting a small label is well and good, but would it be
really tough to put some thought into something shorter than
a recycled press release for the announcement? I, for one,
find it just as wearying to read another cliche-laden press
release for a microsound release as I do reading cliche-laden
free improv/new age/college pop press releases. A couple
of sentences and a link to the press release would be as
appreciated as practicing basic reposting hygeine. In fact, I
might even be inclined to look at 'em instead of bailing at
the first sight of advertspeak.
Or, as one friend has so succinctly put it, "You know that
something has made its way from the margins to the center
when you can imitate the press copy for sport...."
The mileage of others may vary, of course. Perhaps reading
all those press releases about some microsound being visionary
or cutting-edge or whatever makes everyone feel validated
or something.... :-)
