Re: [microsound] any comments on reaktor?

  hi.

i've been using reaktor as my main software since i really got into using my computer as my studio. it served as a great way to learn about programming audio and dsp design, as well as giving me a number of very interesting and productive live performance environments. I think reaktor sounds really great and has been a real joy to use.

I also used reaktor as a way to begin to understand the more complicated workings of max/msp (which i have only been using seriously for about five months, but would be much less fluent without what I learned using reaktor). reaktor's learning curve is not as steep and I feel you can get working (and usable) results rather smoothly. the program is also very stable in osx.

i really want to emphasize that you can't really make a wrong choice with these programs. there are all super rad.

comments and comparisons to max and csound would be welcome.

i don't know max, but i do pd. and both csound and pd are phenomonal tools. both can be used in a variety of ways.

csound is older and shows it in some ways. you have a score file with
csound so you can be more of a traditional composer that way.

there is a different kind of math with pd- it is all about connections
between data sources.

learn both, you won't be sorry!
