[microsound] Re: Great (Hardware) Fieldrecording?
Just in case it helps anyone,
I've been using the following kit with happy results.
MP3 recorder: iRiver iFP-390T 256mb.
This can record at 44.1khz up to 320KBPS encoding
It is line level record in, but that means you can use you own pre-amp.

SO I use this mic/pre-amp:
Microphone Madness 'Microphone Pre-Amp' which has option to buy it with
inbuilt stereo omni mic which are fantastic with a wind jammer. It's mini
jack and you can plug in your fav mini jack mic too. Has nice stereo control
dials to adjust gain during recordings too. Runs on 9V battery so it's
larger than the bloody MP3 Recorder, but together they have been fab.

Best bit of all for me is that it is the only model I found that is 44.1khz
and also is compatible with a Mac [I run OS9], so hey presto, just upload,
it is a dream!
Spent a wee while researching this last summer. Hope it's useful to you all.
