Another interesting project which uses very esoteric scientific crapola
is the Spectroscopic Toolkit, by [part-time Schreck Ensemble
collaborator, if I remember correct?] Pieter Suurmond:

Pieter is intested in the atomic data of primary elements, particularly
metals, and has evolved an incredibly complex microtonal and granular
synthesis system around this data. Probably more interesting to read
about than to play with, however---each track takes several days to
render!!!!
