yeah - seems to be a hole in this argument....
  - commercial radio only exists because of the advertising revenue used to support it - without advertising  most radio stations would be bankrupt - e.g. radio stations are paid by advertisers to run an ad every so often, this revenue is used to pay for radio broadcast licences and ASCAP /BMI , staff  etc. etc >
 
on the other hand you could have a system where there is a TV / Radio / Computer licence (as per the beeb - BBC) - where everyone pays for it, but that would be far too socialist and anti-competition now wouldn't it murdoch & mackenzie, this way no-one gets rich but eveyone gets paid.....
