This is a new label, and this is their first release. The label is paralelo 
18 and its mission is to release creations which explore different 
initiatives in art. This recording is recorded and composed by Claudio 
Yituey Chea. The 3" cd consists of four tracks, each made using field 
recordings of everyday sound scapes in Puerto Rico. All of these tracks have 
been exhibited online at the Public Art Project of Puerto Rico 
(www.artepublico.puertorico.pr). Unlike the many releases which are made 
using field recordings, this one has a concept, melody composition and is 
evidently a matter of a serious approach in the creation. The songs are 
melodically conceived and arranged in conceptual ambiental pieces with 
sounds of exotic soundscapes of puerto rico as a background. The whole 20 
minute lasting composition is divided into 4 songs, above all it resembles a 
conceptually balanced sounding piece which works well as a whole. Starting 
off peacefully, naturally and ambientaly, during its integrity it's 
intensified filling the track with sound, ending dynamic and noisy. plelo 
001 is a release limited to 500 copies, of which to own one is definitely 
worth it, showing that we should continue to keep up with this evidently 
small label.

Another three inch CD by Claudio Yituey Chea, this also being a 500-copy 
limited edition after his "Sonadores" on Locus of Assemblage. "Espacio = 
Vida" (Space = Life) is formed by elements of everyday Puertorican sounds: 
the sea and the animals are so beautifully recorded, you'd think they're 
behind your sofa, while everything's enhanced by a pleasing, minimal touch 
of electronics. Born to run parallel to an exhibition, nevertheless this 
music stands well on its feet - it's a positive experience under any point 
of view, for sure a serious step forward in the right direction for this 
interesting "daily snapshots" assembler.

    20 minutes of nice experimental ambient sounds from this Puerto Rican 
project. All of this material was created using field recordings of everyday 
soundscapes, and this music was actually featured in an online exhibition of 
The Public Art Project of Puerto Rico. In large the tracks are subtly 
melodic, and the field recordings are well manipulated so they're sometimes 
recognizable, but work within the atmospheres of the compositions. Opener 
"Paseo Lineal" contains ringing drones and hums with some flitting 
percussive textures and lots of samples of animal sounds; "Plazoleta" is 
similarly flowing with hums and drones that have a bright, ringing quality 
to them, but a bit more abstract and concise; "Golondrina" starts with 
crashing waves before slowly morphing into a more ambient realm that has 
birds in the distance behind a darker set of resonant jingles; and then 
closer "Una Noche Cualquiera en Guaynabo, P.R." is the most quiet and 
minimal piece herein, similar to "Plazoleta", but with what I could call a 
more sinister approach. The CD-R comes in a small plastic sleeve with a nice 
wraparound band for the package. A lot of white space is used with light 
blue tones and clean text. The tracklist appears inside with a small 
hand-numbered corner, and additional text information is on the back. This 
is the first release from the label, limited to 500 copies, and it's really 
a nice start. Look for more from Yituey, as this is a strong release.
