Re: [microsound] audio input in PC laptops
Looking at Metric Halo Mobile I/O ULN-2 & 2882 these look like nice
devices.
The ULN-2 even runs off batteries. Great for field recording.
Anyone had any experience with this gear?
I use the 2882 and like it a lot. There have been some driver problems in
the past and on a laptop I've had some firewire issues when trying to use an
external hard drive on the same bus. But with panther & the latest drivers
everything works fine for me. It sounds great and the build quality is
excellent. The preamps on the 2882 are noisy at higher gain settings. So
if field recording means that you want to capture quiet sounds and ambiences
you should go for the ULN-2. There's also a good mailing list for users if
you have questions.
