Re: [microsound] the usual rules

hi kim and others...

i'm still rather new on this list, at least actively, and haven't so far taken part in a project. i am still considering doing a piece for the madrid project, but have not yet decided whether i can...
i just checked the rules and am wondering about the "extremely" low encoding rate of 128k
personally i rather avoid to download and/or encode files lower than 192k, because i feel that the codecs are not precise enough at 128k, especially for music as rich in texture as microsound and other "sound focussed" music...
while the above point may be countered with the fact that quite many pc owners do not listen to their mp3s via high quality DACs and maybe even on "multimedia speakers", i do guess that most people on this list or interested in this field, listen on more advanced equipment.
anyway, i don't think, that "bad" DACs/speakers should be taken as excuse for low quality audio, as degradation is a chain...

i do realise that the increase in file size may pose problems, so i do not just want to demand higher rates, but rather discuss options to solve or circumvene the problem.

my 2nd, throw yers in the jackpot...
