Sonic Network Analysis

Documenting and Reinterpreting Zones of Critique and Escape

--------------------------------------------------------

Fourteen artists have contributed raw field
recordings and photographs documenting spaces
where people congregate to critique or escape an
ever-changing world. These recordings will be
used as source material for the next two Stages
of the exhibition.

Sonic Network Analysis - Stage 02

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Instructions:

1. Visit Stage 01 of the Stasis_Space net.exhibit
Sonic Network Analysis. Listen to the mp3 field
recordings and view the photographs in the
exhibition. Find a space (or spaces) documented
in the exhibition that you have an affinity for.

2. Create an audio work of no longer than THREE
MINUTES duration using at least one of the field
recordings in Stage 01 as source material. You
may use more than one field recording. You must
use at least one. If you are a participant in
Stage 01, you may submit a piece as long as it
does not contain the field recording you
submitted.

3. Upload your audio work encoded as a 160kbps
mp3 file to a web server. Then send an e-mail to
john@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx providing a link to your
piece and a list of the field recordings from
Stage 01 you used as source material. DO NOT
E-MAIL YOUR MP3 DIRECTLY. If you e-mail your mp3
file, your piece will not be accepted.

4. If you are not able to upload your file to a
web server, you may also mail a CDR to:

If mailing a CDR, please also send an e-mail
explaining when you sent your package and when it
can be expected.

Note that mailed submissions may not be returned without an enclosed SASE.

DEADLINE:

ALL ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY APRIL 2, 2004.
Entries received after that date will not be
considered for inclusion.

This is a juried exhibition. Submission does not
guarantee inclusion. Submissions that do not
follow the above guidelines will not be
considered for inclusion.
