[microsound] and/OAR update - March/2004

Hello everyone! Thanks for your time.

First on the list of things to mention is that there is a new release available by British sound installation artist Stuart Dodman (see below).

Secondly, over the past few months, there have been new additions to our 'diffusion' page, some of which, have been selling out quickly. Right now, and/OAR is one of the only places in the US to get the USA/USB
double disc benefit compilation curated by Albert Casais (aka Omnid)and various releases by s'agita recordings from Italy. Next, there are plans to start carrying releases on Andrew Deutsch's label Magic If, including the new release by Sawako entitled Fish Wish.

Third, I also wanted to mention that the duul_drv release entitled Fade With Consequence is back in stock.

And now, without further ado...

New from and/OAR:

and/13:
Stuart Dodman - You Fill Me

This release came about after reading the following review in Ampersand Etc, by Jeremy Keens in March of 2003:

"Recently, Stuart Dodman sent me a demo of some of his work 'concerning the displacement of frequencies in an architectural space' in which he records objects/spaces, manipulates them slightly and plays
with them (plus chucks in a statistical analysis) creating 'a conceptual sound installation.' The six tracks total about 22 minutes and are gorgeous. There is a passing similarity to some of the Japanese sine works, especially in their changes as you move. But Dodman is working in lower frequencies and with rumbles and hisses that slip and glide past
you, slowly modulating and layering, mastered at a low volume and very effective as subtle shifting ambiences. The first is long and more stately while the other pieces maintain the tension in a shorter frame with more activity, pulsing ans shimmering."

"You Fill Me" includes tracks that appeared on the demo reviewed by Mr. Keens (some being different versions), plus three additional tracks, to make up a full length release. Listening in either a quiet room or headphones is highly recommended. Sound samples available.
