"Saqueos is a book and object of art at the same time", says Dorian Lugo,
editor and conceptualizer of the project. "Certainly it is a book, in the
printed aspect, like all other printed books. The texts are about
literature, art and theatre. That is why in it you will read plays, stories,
poetry, music (lyrics as well as scores), see photos and drawings, among
other artistic expressions."
Nevertheless, "the book has no conventional order or orientation, only icons
at the margin which establish mysterious links with other texts; but they
are not codified, so that each person reading the book will assign personal
significance to them, they are free for interpretation", points Lugo, who is
also professor of semiotics at the School of Public Communications." Each
book is a unique piece, which adds to its characteristic of a book-object,
and all will be sold at the same price of $16.95, whether the book has been
altered by a know artist or not", says Lugo, who chose among the numerous
artist to intervene his book-object Nick Quijano, María Antonia Ordoñez,
Jaime Suárez, Susana Espinosa, Enrique Pineda, Claudio Chea, M&M Proyectos
and María Josefina Melero.
In some cases "the books are indistinguishable, in others the intervention
is only one and profound, There are two-dimensional, three-dimensional
interventions, as well as some books having a video or sound piece. It is
very varied.".

The project is being exhibited in La Biblioteca María Teresa Guevara at the
Universidad de Sagrado Corazón through May 13.

So there you go!

Hoping all of you are well,
