Re: [microsound] stupid Apple travelling question -- grounded plugs

the travel adapter kit i have is from january 2003 - so although i believe that was after the powerbooks started being shipped grounded, I'm not 100% sure, and they could very well have updated the adapter set since.

At any rate, as of then it doesn't appear to be grounded. I can tell you that if you can convince the store to open one up that the grounding is carried through the disk/slot that the adapter locks onto the power supply so the slots would be lined in metal if it is grounded (as well as the modified plug of course, but I can never keep the systems straight so I would just look for the metal slot). I can also tell you that the newer powerbook with grounding will work with cables/adapters that aren't grounded - it just won't be grounded anymore of course.

dear list,

Given that neither Apple, my local Apple dealer, nor anyone else I know can
answer this question, and because it pertains to international travel, I
figure this list can pull out the rabbit -- so here it goes:

- Are the world plugs in the Apple Worldwide Travel Adapter Kit grounded?

I ask, you see, because the old PowerBooks weren't grounded, and neither was my travel plug set. However, the new PowerBooks ARE grounded -- and I'm wondering if they've updated the Worldwide Kit to be grounded as well.

Of course I can buy adapters in Europe that are grounded, but I'm wondering specifically about the Apple ones as they clip directly onto the power supply so nicely.

Thanks, apologies for banalities,
