the Montreal-based musician and media artist is best known for his  
electronic deconstructions of traditional instrumental music. He  
records compositions and improvisations for piano, strings and guitar  
and restructures them in his studio. Located somewhere in the  
interstices of classical, electronic composition and post-rock, his  
works vacillate between delicate melodies and confrontational bursts of  
noise. Akiyama has performed at festivals such as Sonar (Barcelona),  
Mutek (Montreal), Futuresonic (Manchester), Cybersonica (London) and  
Sintesi (Naples).

| marcia_blaine_school_for_girls | village_orchestra [glasgow/scotland]
formed five years ago, these three former classmates started by  
soundtracking short films and theatre pieces, and eventually agreed to  
let their music be released in a more tangible form. Starting with  
compilation appearances before graduating to a 12" EP and 7", their  
slightly peculiar, melancholy electronics have slowly started to build  
a following of pupils and teachers.

cottage industry, they combine whirring slow-mo beats with droning

Rob Flint is a visual artist who works with musicians and sound  
performance. He is a member of 'Ticklish' (Grob/Textile) and has worked  
and performed with artists such as Steve Beresford, Toshimaru Nakamura,  
Niobe, Barbara Morgenstern and The High Llamas. Based in London, Rob is  
actively involved in the improvisation milieu and has recently  
performed alongside Kaffe Matthews, Phil Durrant and Leafcutter John.
