It was actually a friend of mine from Central America, who exposed me to 
Idm/glitch/experimental music.  After perusing his record collection, I 
realized, his listening taste were miles ahead of mine and I got the feeling 
that my perceptions of Latin America were probably way off.

Then again, I'm from Alabama and some people imagine it to be pretty void of 
technology as well.
