Saw Elvin play in NYC in December 2003. His playing was beautiful:
a bit less fiery than when he was young, but his feel was totally intact...
that strong, graceful groove. No-one else has ever sounded like that, and
no-one ever will. At the end of an amazing set, he said, "Well, it's been
another very pleasant evening", smiling shyly, savoring the understatement.
"I'm looking forward to the next time."
A true giant. Thank you for the very beautiful music, Elvin.
