[microsound] A invitation to jam (The Hague, July the 5th) (Nord Modular)

Hello microsounders,

I´m sorry it´s such short notice but there was a lot of organising to be
done and it took a while before I got these details myself.

Anyway, July the 5th (sunday) there will be a jamsession in The Hague as a
part of the Nord Modular day that might be of interest to some of you. The
idea is that we have a beachclub and will play a improvised composition on
Clavia synthesisers that should last from low tide (14.00h) to high tide
(20.30h) and be inspired by the sea. Everybody is free to join in, you can
bring your own synth or use one of the synths that will be there (including
a G2). There´ll be a couple of computers so bringing a floppy or cd of
patches would be fine. I believe all computers present will be IBM
compatibles so if you use a MAC you might wish to take that into account
when writing your material to a floppy or CD.

We are planning to have a directional mike pointed at the sea so if you´d
like to filter or treat that sound  that should be possible too.

I myself will be "directing" and mixing all of this which I hope will come
down to organising who plays when, together with whom and fairly little in
the way of artistic directions. I´m aiming at a very informal atmosphere, as
far as I´m concerned everybody can sync to whoever he likes, filter whatever
he likes, etc as long as the overall theme is kept in the back of one´s
mind.

As it´s a part of the Nord Modular day everybody is supposed to base his
contribution on one or more of Clavia´s instruments though I highly doubt
anybody will complain if you control yours from a laptop or use it to filter
prerecorded signals. I certainly won´t. Because of the overall theme I´d
like to avoid parts based on dominant beats and of cource it goes without
saying that you shouldn´t smoke or drink above borrowed gear but apart from
that I think almost anything goes.

Entrance is free and I don´t think anybody is getting paid either. I also
think there will be few people there besides those who perform but on the
plus side; if you have burning questions about anything related to Clavia
gear this is THE occasion to ask.

this is a localised even  that´s further limited by being aimed at one brand
of synthesisers so unless your comments are about jamsessions inpired by the
elements in general it might be wise to direct them at me personally,
off-list.
