--------------------------------------------
Hi all,

It's Radiothon at Triple R - the one time that we ask you to support the
station in another year of broadcasting.

Triple R is run by a small group of dedicated staff and kept operating by a
tireless group of volunteers. The station is non-profit and has been around
since 1978. There is no playlisting and best of all the sheer diversity of
the station means that there is something for everyone.

With so many sources asking you for money these days you could be forgiven
for turning off at the very mention of the subject. But this year the
Radiothon is the most important for some time. Triple R's lease recently
finished and we have bought a new location - now more than ever the
Radiothon will ensure that the station can keep running for the next 12
months. We are asking for your support to keep us strong in this time of
upheaval.

Asking for your support comes with some responsibility and I want to thank
those who have made Symbiosis so strong: my wife, Erin, for her continued
support, all the staff at Triple R, every artist who has appeared on the
show, the labels who continue to supply great tunes to the show out of their
already stretched budgets, Mark Harwood @ Synaesthesia for extending my
collection and keeping things interesting, and last (but certainly not
least!) all the listeners. Thank you all.

This week on Symbiosis, David Shea chats about his performance of "The Art
of (Sampled) Memory 2". It is dedicated to found, stolen and imagined
memories, in the form of sound and image fragments and is realized through
electronic collage. Friday 20 August & Saturday 21 August, ACMI Cinemas
(www.acmi.net.au or www.dshea.net)

Coming soon...

22/8: Tarab (Eamon Sprod, AUS, Melbourne) comes down to the show to chat
about the 4th installment of the Outer series at BUS Gallery and perform
live. Patrick O' Brien has put on another killer lineup for 28th August
including Tarab, Chris Smith, Dure Dara, and Anthony Guerra.

In the pipeline: Antiopic feature, mix from Sub Rosa, Fallt feature, Ian
Andrews, Philip Samartzis

Until next week stay safe and warm,

Simon.

Guests/Features:
Toshiya Tsunoda (JP) and I overcame the language barrier (with the help of
Ai Yamamoto). Tsunoda was in town to launch his exhibition at Westspace and
performed with Francisco Lopez over the weekend. It was a pleasure to chat
with Toshiya and a big thanks to Ai and Hamish (Naturestrip) for
facilitating the interview.
