not actually, however i was reading a piece by Robert Nichols 'Daily Lives
in Nghsi-Altai' which is about a fictitious "asian country".

 The Deodars retreated further into the woods. Meanwhile their shamans had

Karsts. They learned how to draw wire: copper, for which there was only an
ornamental use at this time, for jewelry; and steel wire which replaced

 It was at this time among the Deodars that the forest universities began.
They had originally been hospitals. Diseases had infected the Drunes from
the Rift, among the most serious being syphilis. For some reason the highest
incidence of this was among the former shamans. The disease was cured by
herbal medicine. It has been said the practice of celibacy among the Drune
priesthood originated at this time. In any case a religious revival
transformed the hospitals into monasteries. From monasteries they became
universities.
