[microsound] CollaborativeAudio project guidelines [draft]

hi

i had an idea for a project, somewhat related to the sampling
discussion we've been having here [but on a different level].

the project would be to create some music, but the tool[s] that you use
all need to be filtered down to 1 interface. and this 1 interface
requires a file, so that if you did a command line interface, you would
get music by running these commands:
myMusicProgram input.file

or if you had a web interface, you need to upload a file to server, and
it would return the audio file to you. the actual implementation is not
important, what's important is that there is an input file required to
make the music. if you changed the input.file, the music would change as
well [and i'd guess that the same input file should result in more or
less the same music].

there are no restrictions on the input file- it can be text, image data,
a list of numbers, a pr0n video clip, w/e. although, i'd say it's a bit
excessive to need anything larger than 1MB.

what you'd submit would be the sound file [128kbps, 44.1kHz stereo,
..mp3], the input.file, and the interface program [along with
requirements to run it]. actually, i'd like to think about submitting
either .flac or .ogg instead of .mp3, but that may be asking too much.

the idea would be to try different inputs on the programs, to see what
results from that. as well as having set some limits to get people to
make music. and we could use the ColloborativeAudio page on the wiki to
hold the submissions.

any takers?
