Uber_Lingua at St Jeromes presents
UBER ALLSTARS
DATE: Thursday 23rd of September from 7pm till 1am
LOCATION: 7 Caledonian Lane, Melbourne CBD - AUSTRALIA
(between little bourke and lonsdale, directly behind the lounge)...
COST TO GET IN: nothing
Uber Lingua is Melbourne's resident multi-lingual diverse music club where
anything can happen! Resident selectors bP and Saigon Sausage expose
incredibly diverse hiphop, dub, electronic, post-rock, mutant-folk and other
sounds from all regions of the planet in as many languages possible!!!!
ON September 23 UBER ALLSTARS #1 occurs when various killer guests who've
played before are gathered once again for fun and frivolity... There seems
to be a heap on in Melbourne currently, so even if you're going to another
event, drop by St jeromes for an after show jaffle and beer...
Here's the lineup!
Guest#1: Kaigen (Japan) is an experimental hiphop one-man show that's part
of the burgeoning underground scene that includes other weird funks like
Blue Herb and Anticon- affiliates Shingo2. Rapping/screaming/yelping in his
native language over the dense and complicated noise and clutter of
chewed-out samples, KAIGEN distorted logic produces a puzzling off-kilter
sound unlike anything you might have heard in the realm of hip hop. This
week at Uber_Lingua, KAIGEN will be playing a dj set, showcasing some of his
own music as well the new crop of the Japanese and global underground.
Guest#2: ADP, Mysterious Greek Hip Hop specialist ADP reveals his vast
collection? He rocked the place when he DJed a few weeks back,
coincidentally during the olympics...
Guest#3: DJ Jeanette Howard a sonic provocateur if there ever was one...
tests the boundaries of DJ culture with some really out there stuff... As
always, she shows why she's starting an internal revolution...
Guest#4: Sad Bunny the head honcho behind the Safe&Sound events has a huge
collection of electronic and hip hop.
Resident#1: Recently returned from taking the Uber_Lingua concept to a very
receptive Tasmanian audience, bP plays his unique mix of multilingual stuff
to blow your mind... from the Balkans to the Bahamas, Finland to Fiji,
Russia to Richmond... and back.
Resident#2: Saigon Sausage: 'ye-ye' girls (60s french-pop), japanese 60s
freak-beat, 70s kraut-rock, 60/70s British acid folk, late 70s NYC
no-wave/mutant-dance, plus the usual underground hiphop & mashup
eclectronica.
PS: Uber_Lingua's third resident, Mack Daddy Albino Dwarf (Raysles) is on
tour in Europe with his act Curse ov Dialect!
