bomb here, the canon... what should i see?
I found Run Lola Run to be the least of Tom Tykwer's films, prefering
the darker Wintersleepers and The Princess And The Warrior and his
Kieslowski adaptation Heaven. I would second the recommendation for
Michael Haneke, who seems to get better with every film and whose
recent Time Of The Wolf reminded numbingly of Bergman's Shame. For
entertainment Tattoo and Das Experiment were good fun (although
watching the writer and lead actor of the latter arguing with the man
behind the Stanford Prison Experiment after the film was even more
fun), even if Tattoo covers similar ground to that of the creepier
Tell Me Something. For this list I have to mention Andrea Dusl's
Blue Moon, a road movie with a Fennesz soundtrack (and complete with
end titles pop song), although my own recent favorites have been
Matthias Keilich's Nicht Fisch Nicht Fleisch, and Barbara Albert's
Free Radicals. Meanwhile I keep holding onto the vain hope that
someone will get Reinhard Hauff's Messer Im Kopf out on DVD....
