Re: [microsound] pixels per minute?
do you know metasynth by U&I software? Needs rendering though, but
amazing software...

analogies. there are filters on photoshop that operate either in real
time or you have to render. in graphics terms, we could speak of a

per minute progressing rate for live manipulation of binary visual
data.
can the same be said of audio? granted, resolution is an issue, the
sample rate, the bit rate, the amount of simultaneous tracks, over
overlayed, one atop the other. in a music form so connected to its
pixelated brother - digital visual art - can we start to thinks of
single samples as pixels? 41,000 a second. or must we zoom back even
farther and look at solitary music blips, clusters of pixels. are these
the lowest common denominator? that which is not merely a coloured dot,
but rather with has shape and blends colours together - timbre - that
organizes them into fragmented of sounds. do our computer monitor
resolutions actually inform or impede are quest for subatomic musical
particles in music... so many quarks form a quail... can with think of
music as pixels this way? has the visual pixel placed a limited on the
adudio pixel? am i on crack? does anyone else think this way?
