Hi...happy holidays and so on,
I'm very excited to bring to your attention the fact that the second
installment of the "Darmstadt at Galapagos" avant-garde listening party is
coming up this next tuesday the 21st. Hans Tammen and Matthew Ostrowski
will be performing live in a very rare and exciting duo performance
(note: they begin their set at 7pm sharp). I'll be gathering up
recordings by stockhausen, james tenney, morton feldman, john cage, robert
ashley, brian ferneyhough and all of your other progressive trance
favorites. Thanks to everyone who came out in november...it was a lot of
fun and this one should be even better.
Stay tuned for upcoming experimental laptop performances by Oblaat of
Share (share.dj) with Jeff Carey and Robert van Heumen of STEIM, Jan. 5,
and the fantastic avant chamber ensemble that's got everyone shouting for
joy, Zs (www.zzzsss.com), jan 26.

MATTHEW OSTROWSKI & HANS TAMMEN
A New York City native, Matthew Ostrowski has been using live
electronics since the early 1980s, working in improvised music,
multimedia music-theater, and audio installations. He studied at the
Oberlin Conservatory with Conrad Cummings, and the Institute of
Sonology in The Hague with Joel Ryan and Paul Berg. He has performed
live on three continents, and his sound installations have appeared at
museums and galleries in New York, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.

In over 30 years as a guitarist, composer and improviser, Hans Tammen
developed a personal style influenced by contemporary electronic
compositions, the rhythmic concept of the free jazz pulse, and European
improvisational strategies. Projects include site-specific performances
and collaborative efforts with dance, light or video. His works have
been presented in the US, Canada, Mexico, Russia and all over Europe.
All Music Guide recommended him: "...clearly one of the best
experimental guitarists to come forward during the 1990s." (François
Couture) http://www.tammen.org
