perhaps that's the new model. the old ibook g4s (including one i bought about a year
ago) has a maximum of 640mb.

you may wish to consider a powerbook for your video editing. i know they are more
expensive, but unfortunately they have two crucial features which ibooks do not. the
first is that their screen area is variable. that means that when you connect an
external monitor/projector, the powerbook will output video to fit the screen you are
working with, where an ibook will only scale the display (so if the screen is say
600x800 on the laptop, but you plug into a bigger one, you will still only get 600x800
resolution). the other thing is that powerbooks will let you use an external monitor,
but you can use both at once, as a kind of super big display (which is really useful for
editing stuff where you have lots of tool windows etc)... ibooks will only let external
monitors mirror the laptop display. both features seem useful for video editing.

good luck!
