Re: [microsound] richard devine sets some fancy keyboard alight...

it's quite obvious that weird al yankovic was the first performer to
EVER do this, most notably in his infamous 'star spangled banner'
rendition, where he lit his accordion on fire, and then proceeded ravage
it in front of quite literally DOZENS of awe-struck people at an
internationally acclaimed polka rally. indubitably one of popular
music's most poignantly political moments, burned forever into the
collective conscience of a nascent 'me' generation still lamenting the
all too abrupt cancellation of ALF, without so much of a network word as
to whether our furry protagonist escaped the evil clutches of the alien
task force. they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but
clearly, the so-called 'mr. devine,' is out of his league. a lonely
cubicle in the native instruments warehouse awaits him, along with
funfur shackles, and the empty, self-gratifying, promise of free porn in
return for more, and more, and more, of his clever presets and quirky
post-modern patches. ah, richard, as the synchronous pumping of asthma
sprays that signified your fleeting ascent into musical martyrdom
evaporate like a lonely reverb trail with no attack to call its own,
remember your mentors, remember your lineage. remember weird al.
