Re: [microsound] new autechre
"Cage's i-ching were
merely interesting ways to get notes"
True Cage used the I-ching to find other ways to organize and experience
sound, but in a lager scope, the method/s of chance provide a philosphical
set of tools, (that are user definable) that you could/can apply to any
activity.
Interesting to me how topics tend to loop over time.
It would be cool and cagiean if someone made a program that would make
responces to threads by pulling content from past posts based on keywords,
then assembling a new post from of that content. What would be even more
fun, is if the author of the program did not tell anyone of the existance of
the program, and created it as if it where a person, so that everyone on the
list would start to converse with a computer thinking it was an odd
nonsensical list memeber, then (after it has been revelaed that the poster
is actually a program) we could convert the posts to sound and make a
microsound project out of it. In a way it would be this weird content
feedback loop, maybe like a conceptual synth or something.
