i'm in the reverse boat - i'm an American in staying
in Toronto... for a while.

as long as i don't become a paid employee of a club or
venue, i can play as much as i want as a "temporary
worker" as an independent contractor. the easiest way
around having a credit card balance is simply to
demonstrate that you have a return ticket for whatever
means you used to get here. and i can stay up to 6
months as a "tourist."

for the most part, just offer as little information as
possible. answer the questions, but don't volunteer
any extra data.

under NAFTA, the US policy should be the same.

but i'm not a lawyer. you may wish to contact the US
consulate in CA before going just to make sure
everythings kosher.
