$2K, no phantom power, no plug-in power for electret mics (eg binaurals),
money spent on case and built-in mics in fixed pattern. Not even balanced
or digital inputs(!).
Not clear what the market is for this except perhaps reporters, in which
niche it's competing against Nagra's ARES.
Looks cool(ish), AA powering is great, and the analog meters are cute, but
for the same money most everyone would be better off with a SoundDevices
722... and for less, perhaps going with M-Audio's microtracker perhaps
with a Rolls PB224 true phantom front end (which would together run <
$500).
