[microsound] mini PCs for installations

Hi everybody,

Best wishes for the new year!

I wanted to get people's experiences with mini PCs (e.g., mini-ITX,
Shuttle PCs, so on) for installation work.  I'm mostly a Mac user so
I'm not often faced with the huge number of options for hardware as
one has in the PC realm.  I'm interested in what
motherboards/all-in-one-solutions/etc. have worked for people.

I'd love to get something that has support for multi-channel work out
of the box (even though I'm not doing that at the moment, I plan on it
in the future).  Support for 64-bit processors would also be great. 
Quiet systems would be ideal, although I think in most cases I can
probably hide the box far away from the installation if need be.

I'm going to be running some form of Linux, so native audio drivers are a must.

I've looked around at Shuttle systems and Via boards, but to be
honest, the number of options is bewildering, and any suggestions list
members might have would be quite appreciated.
