[microsound] teaching opportunity

Assistant or Associate Professor of Audio Art/Music/Interdisciplinary Arts
Tenure-Track

The Department of Interdisciplinary Arts & Performance in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences at Arizona State University West campus invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the assistant/associate professor rank beginning August 16, 2006.  We seek applicants to teach and develop curriculum and creative/research projects that are based in Audio Art/Media Art/Music.  The position requires service to the university and the successful candidate will be expected to oversee the Department Recording/MIDI Studios and further develop and integrate this facility into the curriculum as well as to engage the local community of artists.

Applicants must have a terminal degree (M.F.A. or Ph.D.) in the arts; a successful record of teaching at college/university level appropriate to rank; professional experience with sound/music/interdisciplinary performance/installation practices, and a demonstrated orientation to creating interdisciplinary work that engages evolving technologies.  Preference will be given to applicants experienced, appropriate to rank, in using digital/electronic and computer-based technologies and related software applications linked to creative activities/research in keeping with 20 th and 21st century experimental traditions.

Deadline: February 15, 2006; if not filled every Wednesday thereafter until the search is closed.
