Re: [microsound] Microsound tshirt V2 with image
hallo one and and all - a newbie here ;-)
(before i get going - is this the herr steinbrüchel behind 'status'? by
coincidence i just got this album yesterday. very nice. it's had about
half a dozen airings already.)
anyway, i was heartened to read the entry below, because when you wade
through the whole microsound scene, it does seem to be a little lacking
in humo(u)r and in contrast a little too heavy on the 'i studied
[insert course name here] at [insert uni here] and have appeared at
[insert uni / art school etc. here]. this is not to disparage those who
have had the privilege of enjoying a tertiary education, but as an old
post-punk, i guess i still believe that 'amateurs' can just as well
come up with the goods, right?! :-)
as for humor... in real-life i would say i'm quite a self-depreciating
sort of bloke, and tend to avoid overly intellectual or formal language
in emails etc. i recently had a correspondence with someone about a
(photography) project i have completed, tied in with some music that
i'm working on. i had the feeling that because of a combination of
lightheartedness and unwillingness to present a 'concept', the project
wasn't taking seriously on its own merits. perhaps this is a problem
when no face-to-face communication is involved? coming from ireland but
living in germany, i tend to generalize a bit and think of we
english-speakers as being a little more relaxed in our approach than
say the germans (entschuldige an alle deutschen dabei!). maybe not. has
anyone had similar experiences, or am i entirely at fault here? does
serious music have to be presented in a po-faced manner?
as for electro-acoustic music, the term pretty much covers everything
done since the beginning of the last century. if an all-embracing
attitude is that which microsound wish to present, then run with it!
;-))

i don't see why the term "academic" should be relevant for any sound
relating to the microsound area. besides i'm also wondering a bit about
the term "electro-acoustic music". all to descriptive for my taste...
and yes, i do have a "sense of humor" (at least i think i do :)

props on the new shirt. its funny and a bit nerdy.
you gotta love it. I think it still might be nice to have the URL or
.microsound on the back
doesnt have to be a huge font or anything.
excellent job!

hello,
the first t-shirt had his little success, so i decided to show you a
new

it is based on the original idea by Trond and i've made the design.
so if some of you are interested i can propose it on my website to
order.
(i hope i can include the image with this mail...)
cedric.
ps : this V2 version require "sense of humor" library installed.
