There's also the Yamaha G50, which has a mic input. Not sure
if it's still available. I've worked a little with both, and
the G50 is more reliable than the GI10.

On the software side, if you run Max/MSP or Pd, Miller Puckette's
fiddle~ object does reasonable pitch-tracking. For Max/MSP only,
there's also analyzer~ (derived from the fiddle~ codebase), and
IRCAM's yin~, which uses a different algorithm.
