I have been trying to, inspired by bernie krause and FM3 (see here for a mini mix) I have tried some field recordings of birdsong - mixed results unfortunately, I think living in a (albeit small) city adds a nice dimension to the recordings, however the traffic noise does tend to drown out or muddy the recordings ;(

I would like to get some samples into a sampler program, to use the sampler as a bird synth - hope my s3000xl doesn't catch bird flu
