RE: [microsound] Re: livecoding
I always enjoy these debates about the visual elements of electronic
music performance, because it seems to me that this area is still very
much unresolved. It is unresolved for me at least, and the disparate
perspectives would seem to reflect such lack of resolution as well.
I find it hard not to agree with Hernan's initial points after I read
the draft manifesto on the Toplap site. It does seem to be a way for
coding geeks to show off their virtuoso algorithmic qwerty skills. It
seemed more about them than about the audience which I find to be all
too common quality among laptopians who are often more misanthropic than
minstrel. And I'm always wary of manifestos. As if there aren't enough
rules already.
Maybe this debate becomes one for the semioticians.
