Re: [microsound] novels with sound

There is a fantastic short story by John Cheever called "The Enormous Radio". It's about a couple who live in an apartment and their new radio begins to broadcast the various dramas unfolding in their neighbouring apartments. The descriptions of how the sounds mingle with music really anticipate sampling and noise composition.

Howdy,
While we're on the topic of reading lists, can anyone suggest some
novels or short stories, where the authors have written about sound in
an imaginative or speculative way?
Thanks,
