Re: [microsound] How to... compose electroacoustic music

Hi David,

it looks to me like you might have to be more specific. Try finding recordings of the big names and a few of the little ones , when you find something that interests you look for what they have to say about it , how they did it.

Since electroacoustic music is basically anything a person might come up with using tone generators , recording devices , editing techniques , filters etc. and is presented or diffused without a performance in the conventional sense , its practitioners are often very aloof. If you make the right burbling noises at exactly the right time within hearing range of some of these aloof individuals you might find that there is an informal study group in your area. They often don't publicize since they don't want people stealing their peripherals , preamplifiers etc..

It seems to me that it's in the doing . The research is secondary. Think about what you really want . What are your ideals? How to accomplish something with what is surrounding you , preferably without damaging anyone or anything.

Good luck!

peace, love , eliane radigue and all of that

Does anyone know of good resources on this topic, on the web? I'd be
curious to see what's out there. I've done some digging around on my
own, but haven't found too much.

back to Xenakis' Formalized Music, but it's a tough read if you're
not a math person.
