[microsound] pc question from a mac loyalist

Hello,

I am very close to purchasing a third computer for my house, and am  
thinking of getting a PC machine. OS preferences aside ( I am an OSX  
loyalist), what chip should I seek out? I am most curious about AMDs  
since I know what Intels can do. Anyone have any experience running  
audio software/hardware along with AMD motherboards? How are the AMD  
Dual Core 64bit chips? Any personal experience is appreciated. Thanks  
in advance.
