Yes, I think that the compression that they are using doesn't work  
that well with some types of electronic sounds.

The same happened to me with some parts of my tracks and I did upload  
WAVs.

I think MP3 compression is to blame here. Usually, short sounds with  
fast attacks and rich high-frequency content end up sounding like  
horrible FFT synthesis. I have the impression that this particular  
problem doesn't appear so prominently if the files are encoded with  
AAC compression (I can provide some examples).
