a common trick some nature recordists use is to take a microphone and  
insert it in a NON-LUBRICATED condom in order to prevent it from  
being damaged by water or excessive humidity
but you might want to try buying a couple of cheap condenser capsules  
(Radio Shack or equivalent) and wire those up rather than use an  
expensive microphone!
