you could hunt around to find some used geophones -- used in geophysical (seismic) prospecting (for oil) -- they are exactly what you are looking for -- though they are band-limited somewhat to lower frequencies ... I've forgotten the frequency response, but the signal could be recorded whatever the case...

hehe, if you have a bit of cash to spend -- check this out!  

(rather than the URL -- search on ebay for geophones...)

$10K will buy you an 8-channel geophone recording system...

could be lots of microsound fun!
