i suppose i haven't introduced myself..(eamonn here)

i am an art student who has nearly no time for this, but..
i'm here to get an idea of just how far beyond my understanding the art of
sound has been persued.  i have always been interested in how people
examine and produce "microscopic" sound, but have never investigated it
out of the
context of a more or less diatonic musical setting.  
when i do hear beautiful microscopoic sound(s) in or behind a melody,
the song so overwhelms me that i sit in a catatonic state until it
is finished.  

....so i was delighted to find the 12k site, among others.  

my only experiments have ended in turning drum machines into frightful
labrynths, and sickening computers here on campus to the point of
permanent failure.  but..i hope to read all about how everyone's work here
is being done.  i plan on taking out a loan and getting a G3 (for
graphics, mainly), so if anyone has suggestions on getting started..
