laptop (performance) ethics...

or we have to get rid of computer music stereotypes no?
'performance' manifests itself in many ways.

stereotype no?

it is the 'track' that induces boredom in performance. it implies linear
playback... hence pressing the space bar - boredom in performance
let us see & feel that the performer is somehow affecting our experience in
the moment. otherwise, call it a tape concert please... not performance.
another solution to track boredom is to provide an interesting visual
experience through video projection (if you are inclined to sit and do
nothing during your performance)
this has been an essential element to the techno/rave/dj equation for some
time. but this is also just another form of tape
my interest lies in fusing all of these elements... so
the program is interactive, improvised, gestural and uses video+sound
together all within the laptop processes. software is hybrid Max/MSP
w/nato.0+55 object... alowing for simultaneous
control/generation/decomposition of sound+visual
