Are you sure it wasn't just a piece with lots of rests?
Which makes me wonder how duration is defined in very sparse music or in
created environmental sounds. Perhaps duration is elastic and dependant on
perceptive modes. Perhaps one can glean small pieces of information without
digesting the whole.
