well, one was given by robert rich and brian "lustmord" williams a few
years back. the fathom/hearts of space cd "stalker" was based on their
mutual appreciation of the film, though it was not meant to supplant
artemyev's original score. a superb record. dark, suggestive ambient
producing of lots of rumblings of the soul mirroring those of "stalker"'s
three characters. (beyond rich's committed use of sound hack, however, not
very this-listy.)

in defense of artemyev, his soundtracks for many of tarkovsky's films
(particularly "stalker" and "solaris") were ahead of their time,
particularly in the context of russian film.
